TOP 5 GOSPEL ALBUMS OF SUMMER 2015

The summer of 2015 has turned out to be one of the hottest seasons on record for Gospel music with a backpack full of albums worth every minute of your time on your tablet. I’ve singled out five fabulous recordings that are the real deal in music, ministry and artistry. These five, fun projects pull you in and never let go. So, if they’re not already part of your music library, cop these real quick. Here are my five picks in no particular order:

Everyday Jesus - Anthony Brown & group therAPy

1. Everyday Jesus Anthony Brown & Group Therapy (Tyscot): This Baltimore native knows how to bring his ministering skills honed at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden to a live recording and production room. The end result is pure gold in Gospel. The runaway track, Deserved, will have you in (group) therapy for weeks, calling on the name of Jesus, everyday.

One Place Live - Tasha Cobbs

2. One Place LiveTasha Cobbs (Motown Gospel): This pastor’s daughter is the one worship warrior that will sleigh you in the spirit. On her new album, One Place Live, Tasha takes the listener to one place and that’s at the feet of Jesus. This album is everything. It’s praise. It’s worship. It’s authentic music for the believer. One spin of the anointed song, Sensed It, will send you straight to the alter. Keep it coming, Cobbs.

Destined To Win - Karen Clark-Sheard

3. Destined To WinKaren Clark Sheard (Karew): Call the legendary Clark Sister ‘the reigning First Lady for the Lord’. Karen Clark Sheard outdoes herself on this project by matching her exquisite voice to the production prowess of her friend and mentor, Donald Lawrence. The outcome is awesome wonder. It’s a win-win situation for everyone, especially for the avid Gospel music fan.

Covered: Alive In AsiaIsrael & New Breed (RCA Inspiration): The group that epitomizes and capitalizes on praise & worship music brings a bountiful supply to saturate your soul.  This double-disc CD with enough music to save the world, will have you ‘covered’ with nothing but the blood. Eavesdrop the track, Mighty To Save, and you’re guaranteed to be hooked for the rest of the ride.

It's Personal - Tina Campbell

5. It’s Personal Tina Campbell (Gee Tee Creative): Ms Campbell made her delightful, debut project personal, musical and spiritual, all at the same time. Her level of melodic artistry and vocal veracity as a solo artist easily elevates her status from one-half of Mary Mary to the making of a modern-day artist to watch out for. Make that music, Tina !!!!
