Interview with Jackie Hill
May 2006, BlackGospel.com by Christopher Heron

In a few short weeks, the 4th Annual Women of Wisdom Conference gets underway in Houston, Texas.  The extraordinary event launched back in 2003 is the brainchild and calling given to Minister Jackie Hill, an anointed woman of God originally from Galveston, Texas who’s a member of the St. Stephen Baptist Church, where Paul D. Landrew is her senior pastor.

The divine mission for her ministry is to exalt the Savior, by empowering the Saints and evangelizing the Sinner.  The Women of Wisdom Conference is designed to illuminate women, spiritually and intellectually, with practical tools and life-lessons through acclaimed keynote speakers.  This successful conference that’s gaining national attention and hundreds more each year will likely achieve its lofty objectives, through a litany of ministers that include Dr. Yvonne Capehart and psalmist Karen Clark Sheard.

BLACKGOSPEL.COM spoke with Sister Jackie Hill recently to find out more about the Women of Wisdom Conference, her heart for women’s ministry and her personal experiences that prepared her for this special ministry.

Christopher Heron:  Sister Hill, I want to start with the title of the conference – The Women Of Wisdom 4th Annual Conference.  What is the vision and purpose for this conference you’ve orchestrated that features women of God, ministering to women in need of ministry?  And what are the precious jewels of wisdom you hope women who attend the conference will gain, after attending this special event?

Jackie Hill:  The word of God proclaims that "...Beloved we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, ...For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints."

The Lord has thoroughly convinced me and graciously shown me the hidden treasures in the Word, by the power of the Holy Spirit, that He has special things prepared for us, which accompany salvation. Oftentimes, we do not obtain those special things prepared for us due to a lack of knowledge of the Word of God, a lack of knowledge of the promises of God, and a lack of trust in the providence of God. God has burdened me with a love for His people that by His power and His strength, the Savior will be exalted, the Saints will be empowered and the Sinners will be evangelized.

God has meticulously chosen every woman that will attend the WOW Conference to Journey Beyond the Veil into the holy of holies, to the throne of grace and mercy.  During the journey they will experience deliverance, healing, liberty, and great worth. Beyond the veil they will experience the wonderful glory of His Majesty, as He showers them with His love, renews and confirms their purpose, and provides a supernatural peace. What an awesome, priceless treasure they shall find as they journey beyond the veil!!

CH:  You’ve assembled a number of powerful pastors, evangelists and psalmists for this year’s event including Pastor Paul D. Landrew, Dr. Yvonne Capehart and Karen Clark Sheard.  Could you tell us what went into your decision-making in selecting this very special man and women of God?

JH:  I honestly cannot take any credit for the decision making process, it is through fasting and prayer, that He, the Holy Spirit has ordered my steps and voiced His choice.  These great men and women of God were contacted by me, but definitely called and chosen by God for this hour.  Pastor Landrew is a powerful and anointed man of God.  Dr. Capehart joined us last year and we were immeasurably blessed!  Psalmist Sheard is an anointed vessel and a living testimony!  We KNOW that we are the benefactors of their very presence. To God be the Glory!

CH:  Spearheading an anointed conference like this says a lot about your walk with God and your eventful life. Can you tell us what your life has been like as a mother, an evangelist and a woman?  And how has your life experiences prepared you for this special ministry and conference?

JH:  WOW! Keeping in mind that “I can’t tell it all” I have learned through trial, troubles, tribulations, and yes triumph, that walking worthy of the vocation in which ye are called, requires fasting, prayer, sacrifices, self-denial, compassion, a burden for the people, and above all a true love for God.  As for being a mother, I bless God that my children (Toye, Candace and Anthony) are young adults, no longer babies that require much attention, so they assist with the work of the ministry.  They are the fruit of my womb and yes they are blessed.

As a woman who imparts the word of God, to impact the lives of others, and interrupt the work of the enemy, my assignment is most rewarding in that, it requires obedience, sanctification, purification and seeking the face and presence of the Lord.  I love the Lord and I am serious about my relationship with Him.  So I strive for Holiness and declare that Holiness is not a Look but it is a Lifestyle.  If we're not careful we will spend time trying to make people holy from the outside in. What am I saying? Change the length of your dress, remove the makeup and lipstick, don't go to the movies, cover your head, etc.

Well, pray me through, because I went to see Madea's Family Reunion, entered and exited saved, sanctified and still filled with the Holy Ghost!  I could travel on this subject but let me just end here.  A lack of holiness is not an external view but an internal issue or matter of the heart.  Proverbs 4:23 says "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."  So, it's time to deal with the heart and once the heart gets right, the hem will get right!

CH:  And finally Sister Hill, who is the Women of Wisdom 4th Annual Conference designed for?  Who will most benefit from attending?  And why should any woman consider making the trip to the conference?

JH:  The conference is designed for all men and women from all walks of life.  It’s not just for saved and sanctified but even more so for the lost to receive Christ as Savior.  This is the conference where the rejects are not rejected, those who don’t own a St. John, can come as they are, regardless to your means of transportation, be it a Bentley or a Bus pass, we bid you to come, happy or hurting, anointed or disappointed, just come, just come, just come, and receive all that God has prepared for you on this day!

No, this is not “just another inspirational conference”, but a transformational experience.  Much prayer and fasting is yet going forth and God says “I’m honoring the sacrifices”.  The journey towards June 2-3, 2006 has been beyond my understanding, blessings have already overflowed, lives have already been changed, demons have already been defeated, divorce papers have already been cancelled, spirits of homosexuality and lesbianism have already been cast out, and yokes have already been destroyed.  We welcome you to come and experience the transforming power of God as we JOURNEY BEYOND THE VEIL...
